I started traveling around the world since early 80s when I had the opportunity to combine business trips with vacations. Then later when my rezeki is in abundance, there were numerous other trips along the way for vacations, most of the time with hubby and the kids when the timing is right. I have also started to compile the journal and photo-pages covering almost more than 45 years of world wide travel. Some destinations I visited just once, others many times. Many of those places are the obvious famous places people would like to visit but some, the casual traveler doesn't even think to try. I have placed links to my travel at the side bar of my personal page, My Life Reflections, and will be updating them from time to time.

My wish is to continue my travel and complete circumnavigate the globe, insyaAllah…

07 Tasmania: Hobart Free & Easy

We had toast and eggs for breakfast. Drove towards town and parked the car at Argyle Street Parking and walked towards Salamanca Place about a kilometer away. Salamanca Place was formerly warehouses for the port of Hobart Town that have since been converted into restaurants, galleries, craft shops and offices.

The Salamanca Market is one of Tasmania's most visited tourist attractions and has won many awards for excellence. The street market is located in the historic Salamanca Place, next to the Hobart Waterfront. The market has over 300 stallholders, and operates every Saturday between 8:30 am and 3:00 pm. We bought some Australian souvenirs from here.

Walked back to fetch our car from the parking lot at Argyle St. then drove to MONA, Museum of Old and New Art, the largest privately funded museum in the Southern Hemisphere.

MONA is located just up the river from Hobart. Mona's subterranean architecture showcases the highlights and lowlights of David Walsh's private collection of art and antiquities.There's a mixture of antiquities, photography, paintings, video and immersive installations from Australia and around the world. A lot of the content is adult-themed. We did not spent much time in MONA. It was not really my taste of arts.

We went back to the hotel for prayers then drove to Mount Wellington also known as kunanyi. It is the summit of the Wellington Range and is within Wellington Park reserve. Hobart is located at the foot of this mountain. We did not manage to drive to the summit as the road to the peak was closed because of snow and ice. We only reached the lower lookout point at the Springs.

We had a late beriani and burger lunch at El-Sultan Restaurant and got an expensive traffic infringement summons for not displaying the parking ticket.
